Beef Shawarma

Sandwiches are a comfort food like no other. This Beef Shawarma Sandwich made with Bubbies Kosher Dill Pickle brine and loads of veggies is a no-fuss, simple meal.

Ingredients

Marinade:

  • 1 lb steak of choice, finely sliced
  • ½ cup red onion, finely sliced
  • 3 small/medium cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Bubbies Kosher Dill Pickle brine
  • 2 tsp middle eastern 7 spice
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp olive oil

Shawarma Sandwich Fillers:

  • Hummus
  • Garlic sauce
  • Harissa
  • Bubbies Kosher Dill Pickles
  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Sumac onions (finely-sliced onion, sumac, salt, chopped parsley)
  • French fries
  • Parsley
  • Fresh pita
  • Optional: tahini

Directions

  1. Combine all the marinade ingredients and set aside for thirty minutes to one hour.
  2. In a cast-iron skillet on medium-high heat, add 2 tbsp neutral oil, once the oil has heated, add the steak and cook to desired doneness.
  3. Chop, dice, and fry the sandwich fillers.
  4. Layer your sandwich, starting with the sauces, followed by veggies, fries, and beef. Finish off with tahini if you’re using it.
  5. Wrap in parchment paper, crisp up in a panini press or on a hot pan for crunch, and enjoy!
