Cheese Steak Sandwich with Horseradish Mayo

Bubbies' cheesesteak sandwich with horseradish mayo has that extra kick you're looking for!

Ingredients

For The Sandwiches:

  • ¾ lb thinly sliced steak (sirloin, or rib-eye work best)
  • ½ onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp garlic, minced
  • 2 long rolls, sub or hoagie-style
  • 2 tbsp butter and more for spreading on the rolls
  • 4 slices of provolone cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste.

For The Horseradish Mayonnaise:

Directions

  1. Combine all the ingredients for Bubbies horseradish mayonnaise in a bowl. Cover and set aside in the fridge.
  2. Heat a medium-sized frying pan on medium heat and add 1 tbsp of butter. Add the onion and season with salt and pepper, then saute until soft.
  3. Add the garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  4. Add the beef and 1 tbsp of butter, season with salt and pepper, and sauté until the meat is no longer pink. While the beef is cooking, turn on your oven’s broiler.
  5. Slice and open the rolls, then spread butter on the inside of the roll. Toast the buns under the broiler, being careful not to burn the bread. Remove the rolls once toasted.
  6. Evenly divide the cooked beef and onions between the two rolls. Lastly, add 2 slices of cheese to each sandwich.
  7. Put the open sandwiches under the broiler just until the cheese melts. Remove the sandwiches. Spread Bubbies horseradish mayonnaise on the other half of the roll, close the sandwich and serve.
